Now where was I...

As often happens I've gotten behind on the blogging...  So I did the swim clinic.  And learned, I'm a bad swimmer.  :-)  I think I did figure some things out, but need to get in the pool and work out the kinks.  My stroke was even worse than I thought.  But my breathing is actually not all that bad.  Just need to swim more efficient, move "new water" etc etc

Ran 3 miles last night outside.  Very slow, but didn't feel to bad.  Going to really narrow down my weightlifting (6 rep max, 2-3 sets, heavy weight) and run run run and get to the pool!

re Rewind

I had a post ready to go the other night, but my netbook battery died before I posted it.  Days I've worked out in March: 2, 4, 5, 10, 12  I also have my "official" tri training ready.  Will run for 35 minutes tonight and lift chest

Week-end Update

A couple workouts over the week-end:  Fri- Dips/Bench/Flyes/Incline dumbbell press/Machine Row and then 2 500 M on the rowing machine.  I was sucking wind on the rowing.  Legs were dead from the squats and lunges.  A long way to go to get some endurance.

Sat- Pull ups/VBar pull downs/deadlifts/dumbbell row/wrist and arm curls
Felt good after.  Lifted pretty heavy (for me)

Need to get the running/biking going even if it's indoors.  Will pull out the triathlon training schedule and get something set up.  Doing a 5k May 7th which will be here soon!

Thirsty Thursday

Got in a leg workout yesterday:  squats, barbell lunges, calf raises, dead lifts.  Legs feel pretty good today, but were a bit wobbly last night.  I have bad knees so I don't do very heavy squats.  Need to start getting a workout schedule to get ready for 5K in May and signed up for first triathlon of season on May 22nd in Albert Lea.  I'll get more details on the races coming up...

Max OT Phase 2 Day 2

A quick lifting session today.  Barbell shoulder press; Barbell shrugs; lat raises; dumbbell shoulder press. No cardio since I only had an hour. (excuse computer)   This is what I base most of my lifting on, MAX-OT  http://www.ast-ss.com/maxot.php

Max OT Phase 2 Day 1

So after a couple of weeks off w/ subzero weather, work and being out of town, I started my "lifting" again.  I do a combination of Crossfit-MaxOT-Yada-Yada-Yada.  Today was pull-ups pulldowns, barbell row, wrist and bicep curls.  End with a couple 500 meter rows and a nice hot sauna.  The row machine is my favorite cardio piece of "gym" equipment.  Hits multiple muscle groups, gets the heart rate up and it's rarely used so I don't have to worry about getting on/off because someone else is using it.

I plan on doing a 2 hour "tri-swim clinic" March 20th in Lakeville.  Also started to decide which tri's I"ll do this year (I only do "sprint" distance ones at this point.)

What you (probably) won't see here.

agonizing over "PR's" ; fancy new equipment; mathematical breakdown of workouts; split times, rpm information.

I enjoy the "environment" and "atmosphere" of tri's.  I want people to be able to get out and enjoy these events without thinking you have to spend 1000's of $$$ and spend hours running around looking like Lance Armstrong crossed with Michael Phelps.
